dc.description.abstractAlthough the interest in Index Decomposition Analysis has considerably increasedsince the 1973 energy crisis, there is still no unanimity as to which method is the best.We aim at developing a framework that helps the users in determining which methodis the most suitable for a given situation. After an overview of the alternativesavailable, the paper attempts to elaborate a set of criteria that incorporates boththeoretical and empirical considerations. Then we propose the use of AHP and QFDto deal with the trade-offs between criteria and the integration of the specificities ofthe decomposition problem, before finally providing recommendations.
