Abstract: Multimodal transportation is a common travel phenomenon nowadays. With an increasing population and traffic congestion, multimodal transportation has become a attractive and important alternative for travelers. However, few studies have been done in this area. This thesis proposed a multimodal, multi-criteria dynamic route choice model. The main goal of this model is to provide route choices for travelers across different transportation modes, based on multiple criteria. For achieving this objective, Geographic Information System (GIS) and microscopic traffic simulation were employed. A dynamic routing algorithm and a switching delay model were proposed and developed. An integrated prototype fulfilling the above aspects was developed to implement the proposed model using Singaporea??s multimodal transportation network data. From the developed interface, travelers could obtain the optimal routes through this model. This study exhibits a great practical potential in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS).
