Abstract: A series of polyfluorene-based (PF) conjugated copolymers have been synthesized to improve the spectral stability, hole-injection properties and water processibility which are the major challenges for PF-type materials. The focus of this work has been to examine whether properties of conjugated polymers can be manipulated through making hyperbranced or rod-coil copolymers. The unfavorable intermolecular interaction of PF which may generate green emission species was found to be successfully suppressed through structural branching. The hole-injection properties of PF was also tuned through a rod-coil structure, where hole transporter-containing coiled segments were connected with PF to form tribliock copolymers. The preparation of amphiphilic copolymers rendered PF water processible, which makes them good candidates in multilayer device application. These advanced materials offer technologically practical solutions for the blue light-emitting diodes.
