dc.description.abstractIn this thesis, combinatiorial techniques are used to solve two computational biology problems, homology searching and motif finding. The first problem is solved by providing a new kind of search pattern, and a new algorithm is proposed for the latter one. The solutions improve the performance and quality of current methedologies and the improvement has been proven by series of experimental results.
