dc.description.abstract | The research work of this study was to obtain desirable structural and magnetic properties of CoCrPt media films by nanoscale layer engineering in order to satisfy the media requirement for high-density magnetic recording. Furthermore, the long-range order, short-range order, and phase miscibility of CoCrPt/Ti films were investigated using synchrotron x-ray radiation techniques, namely, x-ray scattering, extended x-ray absorption fine structures (EXAFS), and anomalous x-ray scattering (AXS). Improved magnetic properties resulted from the higher crystallinity and better texture of the CoCrPt (002), which was enhanced by the increased disorder of Cr and Pt local atomic environment. It was found that Cr was segregated from the Co phase at the grain boundaries. The data also suggested that Pt segregated at the grain boundaries. | |
