dc.description.abstractMolecular interaction between anticancer drug paclitaxel and membranelipid and the effects of cholesterol component were systematically investigated in thisPh.D thesis by applying lipid monolayer and bilayer vesicles as model cell membranes.2D mechanics and thermodynamics as well as various state-of-the-art techniquesincluding the Langmuir film balance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR),atomic force microscopy (AFM), differential scanning spectroscopy (DSC) andelectron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) were applied. The result showed thatmolecular interaction between paclitaxel and biomembrane was non-specific.Incorporation of cholesterol component could enhance the drug-membrane interactionand improve the stability of the membrane system.
