Abstract: Multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) refers to the problem of selecting or ranking a finite set of alternatives with usually conflicting criteria. Fuzzy set theory is a means for modeling imprecise and vague information. The objective of this research is to develop MCDM methods in the fuzzy environment. We propose a fuzzy extension of ELECTRE method to solve problems by incorporating decision maker (DM)a??s preference attitudes. The fuzzy ranking measurement and fuzzy preference measurement are proposed to construct the fuzzy outranking relations between alternatives. Also, we propose a fuzzy MCDM method based on risk and confidence analysis. The linguistic terms of risk attitude toward the interval uncertainty are defined as triangular fuzzy numbers. Based on alpha-cut concept, refined triangular fuzzy numbers are defined to incorporate the DMa??s confidence attitude towards uncertainty. With the application of fuzzy set theory, our fuzzy MCDM methods are effective in dealing with problems.
