This dissertation consists of three research papers in the field of International Economics. The first chapter studies whether export content differences in gender-specific skills can affect individuals’ view on gender norm. With data from several sources, I construct country level gender-specific skill export intensities. A gravity model based IV strategy is adopted to solve endogeneity issue. The results show that people tend to hold gender- equal views in a country exporting more in female-oriented industries. The second chapter studies how banking FDI can affect non-banking FDI from the same origin country with China’s data. Different strategies such as regressing on lead and lag terms, event study analysis and IV strategy are adopted to establish causality. The third chapter shows that cross-country differences in Information and communication technology (ICT) can be a source of comparative advantage in international trade with cross-country data and gravity model.
