Policy-based admission control and policy-based provisioning are implemented on a DiffServ testbed, which mainly provides intra-domain policy enforcement. There are three features in the implementations. Firstly, policy-based admission control is based on COPS-RSVP concepts with the Bandwidth Broker playing the role of policy client. Secondly, the exchange of policies between policy server and client is through COPS, a protocol tailored for policy use. Finally, the policies enforced on DiffServ devices are defined using DiffServ Policy Information Base. This thesis proposes a novel model MLTTM based on the two-tier model but taking a different approach to support multi-lateral agreements for end-to-end QoS in DiffServ networks. Comparisons between these two models are made and simulation results, which show how the proposed model improves load balancing and network efficiency, and how the information update interval and pricing scheme affect the reservation efficiency, are presented.
