Abstract: Aortic aneurysm is a significant disease affecting population aged 60 years and above with high mortality. This thesis entails hemodynamic investigation on the progression of aortic aneurysm disease and the study of flow diverter devices using computational fluid dynamics. The objective of this research is 1) to study the flow hemodynamics of patient specific aortic aneurysm and correlate the hemodynamic parameters with intraluminal thrombus growth, 2) to study the hemodynamic performance of an endovascular flow-diverter technique of multiple overlapping uncovered stent to treat complex aortic aneurysm, and 3) to study the hemodynamic performance of a proposed flow diverter stent graft designed to treat complex aortic aneurysm. The research aims to elucidate the flow environment that is hemodynamically conducive in promoting thrombus formation in the aneurysm during disease progression as well as under the influence of flow-diverter devices.
