dc.description.abstract | CM data pose more challenges than non-CM data. We carry out design, analysis, and experimental verification of retrieval and caching strategies for CM data to improve QoS.Proposed multiple-server retrieval is realized using multiple-channel retrieval, which includes three strategies. The channel partition strategy allocates available bandwidths to form retrieval channels. The static scheduling strategy determines when and what data are retrieved from synchronous or asynchronous channels. The dynamic scheduling strategy handles variable-size channels caused by variable network traffics. We improve the interval-level caching strategy in the following issues. 1. The resource (bandwidth and space) is dynamically allocated to variable-size interval. 2. We propose strategies to avoid switching operations, which affect the continuous playback. 3. Instead of the reservation method, we allocate the bandwidth just-in-time to efficiently utilize it. The simulation and the experiment are carried out. The result shows the advantages of our retrieval and caching strategies. | |
