ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||This thesis describes a detailed experimental and numerical study of air quality and temperature studies in an underground car park. Experimental studies were performed to obtain vehicle exhaust emissions and thermal energy emissions that were representative of local vehicle population and operating conditions. Experimental studies on the car park ventilation rates by tracer gas technique and concentration decay method were also performed.Computer simulation of carbon monoxide concentration level was performed using multi-zone network model, CONTAMW. The model takes into account the measured vehicle exhaust emission as contaminant source and contaminant transport between the car park and surrounding areas.Car park temperature level prediction was performed using heat balance by taking into account the vehicle thermal loss, heat transfer process between the car park and surrounding areas.The predicted results were verified with the measured results obtained from previous study carried out by students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.||URI:||http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/13466|
