dc.description.abstract | Outages and faults are inevitable and the utilities should be prepared to restore the system back to normal operation as soon as possible. Several classical optimization techniques have been proposed to solve the service restoration problem in deterministic environment. However, the system operating conditions do not remain constant during the restoration period. Thus, the objective of the thesis is to solve the service restoration problem in an uncertain environment considering different system uncertainties. Moreover, the use of various distributed energy resources (DERs) like distributed generators (both dispatchable as well as renewable), battery energy storage, and electric vehicles etc. to assist in service restoration is investigated. A decentralized multi-agent system approach is proposed to determine the island range to be restored and assist the utility in efficient decision making. The simulation results implemented on various test systems and scenarios reveal the advantages of the proposed restoration strategy. | |
