Title: | The management of exomphalos | Authors: | Tan, K.L. Joseph, V.T. |
Issue Date: | 1975 | Citation: | Tan, K.L., Joseph, V.T. (1975). The management of exomphalos. Annals of the Academy of Medicine Singapore 4 (3) : 240-246. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Twelve infants with exomphalos and two with gastroschisis and no other congenital anomalies incompatible with life were treated. Conservative management using gentian violet was successful with no complications in 4 infants, was successful in spite of leakage in 1 infant ('opsite' spray used to seal the leak), and resulted in rupture in 3 infants one of whom survived the operation. Surgical treatment was used mainly for small exomphalos, ruptured exomphalos and gastroschisis. Nine infants survived, a survival rate of 64.3%. | Source Title: | Annals of the Academy of Medicine Singapore | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/134272 | ISSN: | 03044602 |
