|Title:||The newborn and maternal idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura||Authors:||Woon, K.Y.

ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||The effect of ITP on maternal pregnancy and neonatal status was studied retrospectively. Though the platelet counts were slightly decreased during pregnancy, maternal morbidity was only very mild; there was no maternal mortality. Of the 21 pregnancies, one ended in abortion and another in a macerated still birth. Seventeen of the 19 live births were fullterm normal size infants; of the remaining two, one was a dysmature and the other a premature baby. Two infants died apparently from traumatic causes and not from the effect of maternal ITP. With adequate obstetric and neonatal care, the prognosis of ITP on maternal pregnancy and neonatal status is good.||Source Title:||Journal of the Singapore Paediatric Society||URI:||http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/133913||ISSN:||00375683|
