Paediatric sinusitis was once considered to be a surgical disease curable with Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (ESS). However, the current view is that it is mainly a medical rather than a surgical problem. Its management consists of comprehensive, aggressive and extended medical therapy. If medical treatment fails, ESS may be indicated. When offering ESS, careful patient selection and the application of appropriate surgical principles are crucial for optimal therapeutic outcome.
