Abstract: A low cross-polarization stacked slot antenna backed by a cavity is presented. Due to the combination of stacked structure and substrate integrated waveguide technology, the bandwidth is enhanced and the parallel plate modes are suppressed. Measurements showed that a standalone antenna can achieve 22.5% fractional bandwidth and 89% radiation efficiency. Meanwhile, the use of an end stripline feed makes antenna suitable for conformal application. It is also easy to extend to larger array. Simulation results showed that a 2x2 stacked slot array has a bandwidth of 16.3% and gain of 13.6dBi. © 2012 IEEE.
