汉语转折连词的历时考察 = THE DIACHRONIC DEVELOPMENT OF CHINESE ADVERSATIVE CONJUNCTIONS

Abstract

Nowadays, the studies on the adversative conjunctions have become one of the hottest issues in the field of Chinese linguistics, and many insightful papers and books on adversative conjunctions were published. However, the previous studies mainly focused on the description of synchronic features of adversative conjunctions and few papers analyzed the diachronic development of Chinese adversative conjunctions by using the related theories of grammaticalization. Therefore, based on the previous works, this study examined the diachronic development of Chinese adversative conjunctions by using the related grammaticalization theories such as successive context theory, grammaticalization expansion theory and grammaticalization chains theory, etc.. In this paper, the diachronic development of Modern Chinese adversative conjunctions, which are originated from the exclusive meaning, ascensive meaning and context meaning, are investigated from the perspective of expansion of grammaticalization.
