dc.description.abstractSMALL MOLECULE FLUORESCENT PROBES HAVE RECENTLY GAINED IMMENSE IMPORTANCE DUE TO ITS ADAPTABILITY IN IMAGING APPLICATIONS. OVER THE YEARS, HIGH-THROUGHPUT-SCREENING IN COMBINATION WITH DIVERSITY ORIENTED FLUORESCENT LIBRARY (DOFL) APPROACH HAS LED SWIFT DISCOVERY OF NUMEROUS NOVEL FLUORESCENT SENSORS AND BIO-IMAGING PROBES. HERE, WE EXTENDED OUR WORK TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT OF TWO-PHOTON (TP) FLUORESCENT PROBES. THE CELL BASED SCREENING OF SYNTHESIZED TP FLUORESCENT LIBRARIES HAS RESULTED AN ALPHA CELL SELECTIVE PROBE: TP-A WE DEMONSTRATED THAT, TWO-PHOTON 3D IMAGING OF TP-A STAINED MOUSE ISLETS SHOWED BRIGHT ALPHA CELLS STAINING IN LIVE CONDITION. SUBSEQUENTLY, GLUCOSE TRANSPORTER-II (GLUT-II) SELECTIVE MOTIF WAS UTILIZED FOR DEVELOPING BETA CELL TARGETING PROBES. AMONG THE VARIOUS DERIVATIVES SYNTHESIZED, WE FOUND THAT TP-B IS HIGHLY SELECTIVE TOWARDS MICE BETA CELLS BOTH IN VIVO AS WELL AS IN VITRO STUDIES.
