Abstract: THE EVER INCREASING ENERGY DEMAND OF THE WORLD HAS POSED SEVERE PROBLEMS FOR MORE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY MANAGEMENT. AMONG ALL THE ENERGY CONSUMERS, POWER AND TRANSPORTATION FUEL SECTORS ARE THE TWO MAJOR DRIVERS THAT CONTINUALLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE ENERGY DEMAND GROWTH. THUS, THIS THESIS FOCUSES ON THE ENERGY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT OF THE TWO SECTORS, MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE MICROGRID POWER SYSTEM AND THE MICROALGAE-BASED BIODIESEL SYSTEM. THE DEVELOPMENT OF MICROGRID IS SLOW WITH MANY UNSOLVED ISSUES, SUCH AS THE SYSTEM RELIABILITY AND UNCERTAINTIES. THEREFORE, THE FIRST PART OF THE THESIS AIMS TO RESOLVE THE MICROGRID OPERATION MANAGEMENT WITH SYSTEM RELIABILITY, AND THE MICROGRID PLANNING PROBLEM CONSIDERING MULTIPLE SYSTEM UNCERTAINTIES. APART FROM MICROGRID, THE PREVIOUS RESEARCH STUDIES OF MICROALGAE BIODIESEL SYSTEM HAS BEEN EMPHASIZED ON INDIVIDUAL PRODUCTION STAGES, WHILE THE PROCESS DEPENDENCE AND STRAIN PROPERTIES HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED. HENCE, THE SECOND PART OF THE THESIS FOCUSES ON A
