dc.description.abstractSize dependency of nano-scale inclusion was studied alongwith the mechanical properties of nanocomposites. The concept of 'interface-interphase' was introduced to study the elastic properties of the interface. The influence of interphase on mechanical properties has been experimentally examined via different treatment of the nano-inclusion surface. It was stated that size dependency of the nanoscale inclusion on the mechanical properties of nanocomposites could be taken into consideration by means of the interatomic energy at the matrix-inclusion interphase, coupled with composite mechanics approach.
