ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||Joint beamforming and power control is an efficient technique to increase the capacity of DS-CDMA systems. In this paper, it is shown that the optimal solution of the uplink beamforming weights is independent of the combined path loss/shadowing effect. Based on this, a novel approach is proposed to implement adaptive beamforming and power control by converting the joint problem into a simple power control problem. It generates the optimal beamforming weights in each slot based on estimated channel responses.
