Abstract: The design of a 215 GHz subharmonic waveguide mixer is presented. The quasivertical Schottky diodes integrated into a single GaAs chip int he antiparallel configuration were used as nonlinear mixing elements. The structure of the mixer is based on the split-waveguide block design, where the impedance matching at both the signal and the local oscillator frequency is achieved with the parallel and series waveguide tuners. The measured single-sideband noise temperature is 3500 K, and the conversion loss is 9.2 dB at 215 GHz when an LO power of 3.5 mW is applied at 107 GHz.
