dc.description.abstractSpray-dried products using sodium carboxymethylcellulose as the coating polymer were prepared. The effects of plasticizers which could be considered as belonging to two groups, polyols and carboxylic acids, were studied. The findings showed that the dissolution T(50%) values for spray-dried products with glycerin, polyethylene glycol 6000 and propylene glycol were generally the same as that without any plasticizer, whereas that with triethylcitrate was faster. As for carboxylic acids, spray-dried products with succinic acid showed the slowest drug release in comparison with the other plasticizers, the fastest being those with oxalic and tartaric acids, whilst intermediate were products with glutaric and phthalic acids. Cast films containing the same constituents as the feed spray provided a fairly good indication of the spray-dried products to be formed.
