ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||We study localized modes around a kink in generalized Frenkel-Kontorova models with anharmonic interparticle interactions. We show numerically that such anharmonicity can give rise to types of kink internal modes, which oscillate with frequencies lying in the gaps either above or below the phonon frequency band.
