|Title:||Linear representations of binate groups||Authors:||Alperin, R.C.
|Issue Date:||3-Jun-1994||Citation:||Alperin, R.C.,Berrick, A.J. (1994-06-03). Linear representations of binate groups. Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra 94 (1) : 17-23. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.||Abstract:||Binate groups are acyclic groups having no subgroups of finite index, and all finitely generated residually finite normal subgroups are central. Using homological arguments, we show that there are no non-trivial finite-dimensional unitary representations. With some results from algebraic groups, we can further show that there are no non-trivial finite-dimensional linear representations. © 1994.||Source Title:||Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra||URI:||http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/103499||ISSN:||00224049|
