Abstract: The identity of the poorly known rubble swimming crab, Coelocarcinus foliatus Edmondson, 1930, is clarified and the species is redescribed and figured in detail. The species is also reported from Guam for the first time. Notes on its habitat and behaviour are provided. Specimens from Madagascar previously referred to this taxon are here shown to represent a new species, C. marindicus.
