Abstract
A built form is the result of interplay of tectonics, topo and typo.
The relationship between a built form and the site on which it sits on would then be revealed by exposing the structural logic behind the design rationality. The so-called revelation, instead of being imposing meanings, is self-describing in physical form which narrates the relationship between a built form and a place.
Context is an interweaving network of interconnected flows which sustains the progress of the modern society. Context serves as a foundation on which architectural thinking is manifested which leads to the construction of a built form. Tectonics thus refers beyond structure and construction.
This paper aims to probe the relationship between context and tectonics by studying Kevin Low‘s architecture through tectonics.
