|Abstract:||Notonyx A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 (Crustacea, Brachyura, Goneplacidae) is currently represented by two species. The type species N. nitidus A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 has a reported range from Fiji to the Persian Gulf, and N. vitreus Alcock, 1900 is known only from the type locality Andaman Sea, Red Sea, Indonesia and New Guinea, off Thailand and Japan. Two specimens of Notonyx collected intertidally from reef rubble in Phuket, western Thailand, are here described and assigned to a new species, Notonyx gigacarcinicus n. sp., on the basis of the male abdominal and gonopodal structures. Notonyx is also transferred to the Goneplacinae. © Publications Scientifiques du Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle.|
