Abstract: Varying δ13C values for different plant parts of a thin-leaved epiphytic orchid Oncidium Goldiana were observed. Within these plant parts a significant correlation (p < 0.05) was obtained between the δ13C values and the ratios of activities of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase. Photosynthesis in these non-foliar green organs may modify the proportion of 13C in such tissues that utilize predominantly carbon imported from the leaves.
