Abstract: This paper presents a specification and object-oriented modelling technique for a distributed application. Precise specification ensures proper interaction behaviour between information components. The complexity of a distributed application is resolved by modelling the application entity as a collection of objects. The objects act and interact with each other in accordance with the interface specification. The technique is applied to the X.400 Message Handling System and a prototype of object-oriented implementation of the MHS is produced. © 1994.
