Abstract: The chemistry of hexacarbonyldicyclopentadienyldichromium with the chalcogens (sulphur and selenium), pnicogens (phosphorus and arsenic) and tetraphosphorus trichalcogenides P4X3 (X=S, Se) is presented. This review focuses on aspects of research carried out in my group. Thermolytic reactions are described, together with the structural features of resulting new complexes. The results provide ample illustrations of the effective activation of the polyatomic molecules of the main group 15/16 elements by the cyclopentadienyltricarbonylchromium radical species. © 1999 Elsevier Science S.A.
