dc.description.abstract | Osmium carbonyl clusters, especially the cluster [Os3(CO) 10-(NCCH3)2], were found to be active against four cancer cell lines, namely, ER+ breast carcinoma (MCF-7), ER- breast carcinoma (MDA-MB-231), metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma (SW620), and hepatocarcinoma (Hep G2). The mode of action was studied in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines by a number ofmorpho logical and apoptosis assays, all ofwhich pointed to the induction of apoptosis. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH& Co.
