Abstract: The first decarboxylative Mannich reaction employing β-keto acids, catalyzed by cinchonine-derived bifunctional thiourea catalyst has been described. The desired â-amino ketones were obtained in excellent yields and with moderate to good enantioselectivities. © 2012 Jiang et al.
