Simulation of the performance of a continuous counter-current adsorption system by the method of orthogonal collocation with non-linear and interacting adsorption isotherms. Chemical Engineering Research and Design 68 (1) : 104-108. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The performance characteristics of a stimulated counter-current adsorption process has been analyzed by considering it as an equivalent true counter-current unit. The model equations are solved by the method of orthogonal collocation. The experimental concentration profiles are in good agreement with the theoretical predictions in which the Peclet numbers used in the model were determined a priori from pulse chromatographic measurements. It is observed that with the experimental conditions reported by Ching et al.,1,2 the simulation shows that the system is is controlled by axial mixing rather than by mass transfer or both. | Source Title: | Chemical Engineering Research and Design | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/91699 | ISSN: | 02638762 |
