Abstract: Glass formation can be considered to be due to the glass phase prevailing during the growth competition with other crystalline phases in the undercooled liquid. Thus, the parameters governing the growth velocity affect/determine the glass forming ability of the alloy. In this paper, these parameters were analyzed in the view of phase selection. The conclusions showed why the best glass formers are achieved in multi-component deep eutectic systems. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
