Abstract: Chemical ordering and magnetic properties of L 10 CoPt- SiO2 nanocomposite were investigated. The chemical ordering increased with SiO2 addition, showed maximum at 10 vol % SiO2, and decreased with further increase in SiO2 compositions. It was observed that coercivity was directly related to the degree of chemical ordering and showed maximum corresponding to 10 vol % SiO2 composition. The large volume fraction of SiO2 increased the grain isolation but deteriorated chemical ordering and magnetic properties. © 2009 American Institute of Physics.
