Abstract: This paper presents a review of dielectrophoresis (DEP) devices which provide an effective way to manipulate and separate micro-or nano-bioparticles automatically and quickly by polarisation effects in a nonuniform electric field. A detailed review for designs and operation principles of various microfabricated DEP devicesis given and some advantages and disadvantages of current devices are noted to the final system to attain the unprecedented levels of performance. © 2009, DESIDOC.
