Abstract: Single crystal wafers of Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-(8-9)%PbTiO3 were analysed to confirm the evidence for trapped metastable phases. The rhombohedral phase was stressed predominantly in compression in the plane of the wafer, both in unpoled and poled conditions. The analysis showed that trapped pseudomonoclinic phase was promoted by poling in the region or above the rhombohedral-to-tetragonal phase transition field.
