This paper presents an active inductor based LNA for the lower UWB communication bandwidth (3-5GHz). Implemented in the CMOS 0.18μm technology with a 1.8V supply voltage, the presented LNA operates with a current consumption of 9.2mA while occupying only 0.4mm2 in chip area. This design can achieve 19.5dB ± 1dB power gain with a maximum Noise Figure of 4.1dB across the entire bandwidth. A single passive inductor is used in the first stage input matching network and a source follower output buffer stage is also utilized providing S11
