Abstract: Creeping waves guided along a perfectly conducting cylinder with a lossy magnetic coating layer are studied in this paper. The coating material has complex permittivity and permeability values of ε r and μ r, which represent a wide class of available materials. The complex propagation constants are obtained by solving the dispersion equation using random search and a secant method. The first three modes are calculated in the case of the coating thickness ranging from 0 to d/λ 0 = 0.5. Highly attenuated leaky wave modes are observed for both the lower and higher order modes due to the magnetic loss, and critical magnetic loss effects of all the three modes are observed for different radii of the coated cylinders.
