Abstract: Electrical pulses of very short risetime ( less than 500 ps) with adjustable amplitudes to as high as 400v, variable pulse duration and a repetition rate of up to 210 Hz are obtained from a simple pulse system using a charged delay line and a mercury wetted reed switch. The system provides a simple scheme for the study of dynamic behaviors of high threshold, high power laser diodes, as well as for picosecond optical pulse generation.
