dc.description.abstract | In this study, the performance of a plate type indirect evaporative cooling system (IECS), based on cross-flow configuration, is numerically investigated. A two-dimensional model which considers variation of water film temperature and the wet channel wettability is developed to comprehensively describe heat behavior happened inside. After comparing the simulation results with existing experimental results, the small deviation within ?5% proves the feasibility of proposed mathematical model. The results indicate that important parameters, such as diameter of plates, air properties, and surface wettability lay a great effect on the cooling efficiency of IECS. The investigation of flow pattern in terms of cross-flow configuration indicates that counter-flow of secondary air and water film has a better cooling performance than that of the current-flow pattern. Furthermore, a novel structure of separating medium is applied by applying flat tubes. Simulation concerning this novel geometry is performed in order to understand its cooling mechanism. | |
