Issue Date: | 2007 | Citation: | Chen, Z.,Deng, W.,Wang, X.,Yan, Y. (2007). Highly durable and active oxygen reduction reaction catalysts based on Pt supported on double-walled carbon nanotubes. 2007 AIChE Annual Meeting : -. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNT) as Pt support were proposed and the catalytic activity towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the durability of this catalyst in the proton exchange membrane fuel cells conditions was studied. Pt supported on carbon black (Pt/C), single-walled carbon nanotubes (Pt/SWNT), double-walled carbon nanotubes (Pt/DWNT) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Pt/MWNT) were prepared by an ethylene glycol reduction method. The Pt electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) of Pt/DWNT and Pt/MWNT only decreased about 35% after 1000 cycles, followed by 38% decline of the Pt ECSA of Pt/SWNT, the Pt/C catalyst had the largest loss (47%) of Pt ECSA. Originally, Pt/DWNT showed the best catalytic activity towards ORR, followed by Pt/MWNT, then Pt/C, at last Pt/SWNT. After the durability test, the sequence catalytic activity towards changed to Pt/DWNT > Pt/MWNT > Pt/SWNT > Pt/C. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007). | Source Title: | 2007 AIChE Annual Meeting | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/77451 | ISBN: | 9780816910229 |
