Abstract: Autofluorescence imaging has shown high sensitivity for early diagnosis and detection of cancer in humans. However, it has a limitation in diagnostic specificity due to high false positive rates. In this work, we apply an integrated fluorescence spectroscopy and endoscopic imaging technique for real-time tissue measurements. The results show that the combined autofiuoresce imaging and spectroscopy has the potential for improving laryngeal cancer diagnosis and detection. © 2009 SPIE-OSA-IEEE.
