Abstract: A novel ion exchange treatment of zeolite was developed to change the physical and chemical adsorption properties of penetrants in the zeolite. EDX data confirmed the complete replacement of sodium ion in zeolite NaA by this special ion, while XRD patterns showed no changes in crystalline structure of zeolite after the ion exchange treatment. The newly developed MMM materials showed superior separation performance for natural gas and propane/propylene. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2006 AIChE National Meeting (San Francisco, CA 11/12-17/2006).
