Abstract: This paper presents the results of a parametric study to investigate the strength of doubler plate reinforced circular hollow section X-joints subjected to in-plane bending. The effects of the relevant doubler plate and joint geometric parameters on the strength of these joints with different brace-chord combinations are evaluated and compared with that of un-reinforced joints. It is found that the provision of an appropriately proportioned doubler plate at the brace-chord intersection can provide strength enhancement up to 200% to the un-reinforced joint.
