Abstract: The method of statistical quadratization is adopted through which skewness and kurtosis of the response can be estimated to study the nonlinear response and non Gaussian effect on fatigue damage of jack up platforms. The results are compared with both those obtained by simulation and those which assume the response is Gaussian based on equivalent linearization method. It is shown that the statistical quadratization method provides a notable improvement over the linearization method.
