Abstract: The formation of the optical gratings in the light of the well-known Young's interference fringes are discussed. As such, the formation and reconstruction of the visible fringe pattern is explained in the light of the interference of the two optical gratings. This approach show alleviate difficulty faced by students in understanding how fringe patterns are formed and reconstructed, especially when they are required to shift from the conventional to the digital techniques.
