Abstract: With respect to the significance of harmonic and intermodulation distortion calculation in SCM lightwave communication system, this paper considers this calculation for subcarrier frequencies close to the relaxation frequency of the laser diode. Calculation was carried out numerically and experimentally. In the calculation process, considered were a laser diode without light reflected back into the diode, and the effect of weak reflections on distortion. Three significant results were obtained.
